Frequently asked questions

Is it free to borrow a camera?

Yes, it is entirely free to borrow a camera from Clunes Neighbourhood House.

How long can I borrow one?

The loan period is variable and agreed upon at the start of your loan. If nobody else is waiting, an extension may be available. Contact us before your return date if you would like to ask for more time.

Do I need Wi-Fi and a smartphone?

Yes. The camera connects to your home Wi-Fi and is viewed through an app on a compatible smartphone.

What if I am not confident using an app?

That is okay. Clunes Neighbourhood house can help you download the app, connect the camera and teach you how to use its main features.

Can Clunes Neighbourhood House see my camera or recordings?

No. We do not monitor your camera, access or store your recordings. You remain in control of the camera and its footage while it is on loan.

Can someone help me install it?

Clunes Neighbourhood House can provide setup guidance and may be able to arrange practical installation assistance. Please let us know what help you need when you make your enquiry.

Where can I place the camera?

The camera can be placed around your home or property, such as near an entrance, driveway, shed or suitable outdoor area.

It must be used on your own property, or somewhere you have permission to install it. Please position it respectfully and avoid recording private areas belonging to neighbours or other people.

Will the camera work without permanent wiring?

Yes. The camera is battery powered, so it does not need permanent wiring. It will need to be charged before use and may need recharging during the loan period.

Does the camera record all the time?

The camera can detect movement, send an alert to your phone and record activity. We will show you how to check the live view and adjust the motion settings.

Can I reserve a camera?

Yes. Contact us to check availability. If all cameras are currently on loan, we can add your name to the waiting list.

What happens if something is damaged or missing?

Please contact Clunes Neighbourhood House as soon as possible. The loan agreement explains what to do if any part of the kit is damaged, lost or stolen.

What should I do with recordings before returning the camera?

Save any footage you would like to keep, then remove your personal information and clear the camera as directed in the return guide. We can help if you are unsure how to do this.

Is this an emergency or monitored security service?

No. Clunes Neighbourhood House does not monitor the camera or respond to alerts.

If you are in immediate danger or there is an emergency, call 000.
